Press release: Improving aid delivery and development strategy in East Africa

Over 250 representatives from governments, UN agencies, NGOs, donors and private sector companies are gathering on 2-3 February 2016 at the United Nations Conference Centrein Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for theAid & Development Africa Summit.

The Summit focuses on how technological innovations and best practice can improve aid delivery and development strategy in East Africa.Theagenda has been developed in consultation with key organisations, such as WFP, IRFC, World Vision, USAID, UNICEF, World Bank, Save the Children, UN Habitat, CRS, FHI360, Oxfam, Habitat for Humanity International, IRD and will include case studies, panel discussions, workshops, and interactive roundtable sessions.

AIDF Africa Summit 2016 will provide comprehensive overview of the latest trends around humanitarian logistics, community health, WASH, security of aid workers and communities, camp management, mobile for development, financing, communication with communities and among aid agencies.

Anne Signe Hørstad, Project Coordinator, Transparency International Norway will join Rishi Ramrakha, Head of Zone Logistics Unit, Africa, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in the panel on humanitarian logisticsand supply chain challenges, which will tackle the following:

-Addressing challenges of last mile logistics: how access has changed in some regions

-Best practice for shipping supplies into areas of reduced infrastructure and difficult borders

-End-to-end visibility: discussing benefits and costs of traceability

-Ensuring agile operations and reducing programme waste

-Lessons learned from recent operations

-How to improve supplier relationship management and long term partnerships

The Aid & Development Africa Summit 2016 speakers include:
