Parent Council Meeting Minutes

March 26th, 2018

Present: Stephanie (Principal), Slyvie (Parent Chair), Olga, Annie, John

1. Prayer

Stephanie led the parent council in prayer to open the meeting.

2. Celebrations and Good news

Cross received - a 50 pound metal cross which was outside for 50 years

and in great shape was delivered to the school and hopefully erected in

May during Education Week.

Lenten Campaign - $1400 has been raised/donated so far for the campaign.

3. Principal Items

Family Forum information - Math - takes place March 28th from 6-7:30pm at the

Board on Wellington Street in London, ON. Parent input is for May 23rd for kindergarten to grade 2 and grades 3-10 academics posted on website.

Parent Council Award for Academic Awards @ graduation

2016-2017 - 2 @ $200 (one male, one female)

2015-2016 - 2 @ $150

2014-2015 - 2 @ 250

Stephanie will look into the criteria for the awards and report next council meeting

regarding 2018 Awards.

4. Vice Principal Items

Safety in the parking lot for drop-offs and pick ups will be addressed possibly clearing sand from the parking lot surface and painting one way arrows for entrance and exit of the school parking lot to ensure a safe arrivals and departures to and from the school.

It is possible that the one way sign at the east end will be replaced to allow buses and traffic to exit the lot in an orderly fashion.

Parents are encouraged to visit website periodically for school updates.

5. Fundraising

A white, 2 foot statue from Italy of the Madonna was purchased for $154 and will be erected in the Peace Garden from Parent Council later this spring. Permission for the baseto be built in the Manufacturing Shop class, and possibly a solar light for the statue is being researched. Currently the Parent Council has approximately $1300-$1500 which has been raised in the account.

Our Paint Nite fundraiser will take place April 24th and April 25th at 6pm and cost of $40.00 per person which includes all supplies for the evening. Tickets can be purchased at the office. The evening will take place in the cafeteria with an independent instructor. Non-alcoholic beverages (water/pop) will be available for refreshments.

A cinnabon selling fundraising idea for individual students towards the Prom Fee of $70 is under consideration however it has been noted that fundraisers should be approved in September of the school year as fundraisers have to been evenly spread out and not accessing the same people throughout the year.

6. Upcoming Events

Lenten Campaign/Easter - ongoing.

Global Student Leadership Summit - 16 senior students are attending the summit from April 8th to April 11th in London, ON this year. Transportation will be provided however the summit extends past 3:30pm on one of the days and parents may want to drive that day.

Midterm Report Cards - will be sent home will the automated phone call reminding parents to review and sign reports on April 20th.

Grade 5 Faith Day - will take place in April.

Semi-Formal - is scheduled for April 12th and may be rescheduled for April 26th.

Chaperons are still needed for the dance, parents are encouraged to volunteer for the event.

7. AOB

There is a PD day on April 13th.

8. Upcoming Meeting Dates

April 23rd, May 28th - parents are encouraged to attend Parent Council.
