To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing on behalf of Chatham Recycles, a workgroup comprised of Chatham town staff and residents. Our mission: a volunteer-driven educational effort designed to encourage residents, visitors and businesses to reduce their trash output and increase their recycling efforts. By recycling, Chathamites, visitors and residents alike, can limit the amount of trash going into incinerators and landfills, help conserve natural resources and reduce the costs of waste disposal for our town.

The reason for my letter today is to ask for your support in this mission by striving to increase recycling rates among visitors of the Chatham community. As you are well aware, every summer Chatham becomes home to thousands of vacationers who, despite their concern for the environment, may not be aware of the many recycling resources available to them. Through your rental homes, you are presented with the unique opportunity to greatly impact the recycling rate for the Town of Chatham by creating a positive influence on the “visitor community.” Your commitment could be as simple as making town recycling information available in rental homes so that visitors are aware of their waste disposal options. We have included, for your use, an informational flyer that can be distributed to tenants or posted in rental homes (additional copies can be downloaded from the Chatham Recycles website as needed). We also encourage you to work with your tenants and local haulers to make recycling a priority. Chatham Recycles looks forward to the opportunity to assist you in this endeavor in whatever way we can (logistical advice, information, etc.) and in creating a lasting partnership.

If you would be willing, members of our workgroup would appreciate the opportunity to meet with a representative of your company to talk about current recycling efforts in Chatham and ways that we can work together to make our town’s recycling goals a reality. Thank you for your time in reading this letter; for more information about this initiative you can visit our website at www.chathamrecycles.org or contact us via:
