MRS. BERRY’S SCIENCEGUIDELINES
Dear Students,
I am so excited to have you in my science class this year! I want each and every one of you to have a successful and enjoyable year. WAHS stands for Wolters ACCELERATED High School. The classes are designed so that if you work hard and give 100% effort during class, you can finish a semester in approximately 12 weeks. It is my goal to help you earn your science credit(s) as quickly as possible, while helping you receive a quality education at the same time. The following rules, procedures, and guidelines are all designed to help you achieve this goal as quickly and effectively as possible.
CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR
1. Berry’s #1 Rule – Respect each other!
2. Rules in the handbook will be enforced.
3. School ID must be worn at all times.
4. Report to class on time with supplies. (Bring pencil, paper, and packet to class each day.)
5. Utilize EVERY minute of class time. (No sleeping or “resting” during class.)
SEMESTER GRADING POLICY
Test average = 75% (Three 6 weeks averages @ 25% each)
Semester Exam = 25%(must score a minimum of a 70)
***Before a credit can be earned, a student must successfully take and pass a TAKS practice test.
PACKET & TEST RULES AND EXPECTATIONS
- Students will only be given 1 packet at a time.
- All packet notes and problems will need to be completed in your own handwriting with all work shown before a test will be given. Completed packets will be turned in to me at that time.
- A minimum test grade of a 70 must be earned before you will be allowed to move on to the next unit.
- Any student who does not score at least a 70 on a test will be required to complete test corrections, review the unit as necessary, and/or complete a remediation assignment before a retest will be given.
- Tests will NOT be taken out of the classroom.
- The maximum score for any successful retest is a 70.
EXTRA ASSISTANCE
Please come in for extra help if you begin to have trouble or have any questions. Unless I have duty or meetings, I will be in my room before school at 8:00 am.
TARDIES AND RESTROOM BREAKS
The WAHS tardy policy will be enforced in my classroom at all times. Wolters is a small campus. There is plenty of time between classes to use the restroom and/or get a drink of water. Please do not ask nor expect to be excused during class.
I want you to have a great experience in the Wolters Science Department. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help meet your educational needs and goals.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Berry
