GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
As a non-sworn, unarmed Parking Compliance Officer of the University of New Haven Police Department, individuals holding this position are charged with the performance of the prescribed duties of the department. These duties shall be performed in strict accordance and observation of constitutional laws, State statutes, municipal ordinances, and university rules and regulations.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Police Personnel
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None
CORE DUTIES:
· Parking & traffic enforcement of University of New Haven properties
· Assist with special parking requests using cones, signs, barricades, etc
· Assist with vehicle related issues such as lock-outs, dead batteries, etc
· Assist with escorts as needed
· Assist with securing and unlocking university facilities as needed
· Immediate and proficient response to parking enforcement calls for service as directed by the dispatcher or other qualified authority
· Responsible for the prudent and impartial exercise of professional discretion and prerogatives in the performance of assigned duties.
· Follow departmental chain of command in the performance of duties
· Assist at Dispatch duties and ensure all proper certifications are maintained, (i.e. C.O.L.L.E.C.T.)
· Assist with vehicle maintenance records and upkeep
· Maintain parking lot inventory
· High visibility campus patrol
· Render first aid when needed
· Assist as needed with courtesy van duties
· All related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum 21 years of age and a valid Connecticut Driver’s License
· Extensive walking and driving throughout campus
· Able to pass a University background investigation to include an unblemished motor vehicle record.
· Minimum high school diploma
· Ability to communicate in a professional, clear, and calm manner with a diverse student and employee population.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and private information and adhere to appropriate state and federal statutes.
