People’s Choice

Judges – Joe Van Putten and Susan Olsen

The VIC has commissioned Joe Van Putten and Susan Olsen to select the items to be hung for the show. They will award a “Best in Show,” “Best Photo,” “Best Painting,” and “Honorable Mention” prize. We will also award a “People’s Choice” Award at “The Monarchs in the Meadow” musical event on August 25th. People visiting the VIC will purchase ballots and vote on their favorite artwork in the show. All proceeds from the show will go toward developing arts programming at the VIC.

Susan Olsen is a familiar face in the North Country Art Scene. Until last year, she was the proprietor of “Borealis Color” – an art supply store in Saranac Lake. Susan is an active studio artist and educator and is involved in the tri lakes and regional arts communities.

Joe Van Putten, on the other hand, is semi-retired and comes to us from the New York metropolitan area (we know!) following a forty year career as an artist and educator.

These two very different artistic people have one very important central thread: an abiding love of both the Adirondacks and the Arts. It is this diversity of ideas and experiences that make the Adirondacks such a wonderful place for an artist to live and work.
