1st March 2018

Dear Parents,

Yr 5 and Yr 6 trip to the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square

On Thursday 22nd March we will be taking Years 5 and 6 to The National Gallery in London.

Here, the pupils in each year group will have the opportunity to take a tour with a dedicated member of the education team, focusing on the theme 'Myths and Legends' and exploring the art of storytelling through pictures. This visit will make strong links with the curriculum across multiple subjects back at school, while building on the children's knowledge and challenging their imaginations by learning how to truly "see" artwork. The pupils will also have some time to practise their drawing skills after lunch in the main gallery in smaller groups supervised by Weston Green staff.

We will be leaving school at 9.30am on foot and taking the train from Thames Ditton station to London Waterloo, walking from there to the National Gallery and returning in the same way, arriving back at school at 4pm.

The children will wear their school uniform and purple fleece or storm jacket. They will need to bring their purple rucksack to carry their packed lunch, which will be provided by the school. If the weather is cold, please ensure they also bring their purple school woollen hat and scarf as well as grey gloves, as we will be walking a reasonable distance.

The cost of the trip will be £7.00 which will be added to your next term’s invoice.

Please submit your permission using this link by Monday 19th March in order for your child to be able to attend.

I anticipate that this will be an engaging and exciting trip for the children.

Kind regards,

Natalia Willis
