Job Title:Childcare Practitioner– Forest Fields
Responsible to:Team Leader
AndChildcare Services Manager
Hours of Work:According to contract, between 7.45am and 6.15 pm.
There will be occasional meetings outside of these hours
Job Purpose:
To support the Childcare Services team in the provision of a stimulating and caring environment for children aged 6 weeks – 4 years in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and to provide support to parents/carers.
Duties and Responsibilities
1To work with children in the nursery, individually or in groups to assist and improve their development in all areas.
2To provide varied opportunities for play and learning for children in the nursery within the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
3To plan, record and evaluate learning opportunities and outcomes in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage. To prepare and maintain children’s developmental records using observation and assessment skills.
4To provide quality pastoral care for all children in the nursery ensuring their health, safety and welfare at all times and to liaise with parents regularly regarding the progress of their child(ren).
5To support children with additional needs and to maintain records on their progress.
6To be aware of statutory requirements and legislation in relation to the children.
7To provide information when required for inclusion in reports.
8To provide a service which values and respects the differing cultures, ethnic background and household structures of the families and the children using the nursery.
9To fully understand the philosophy, aims and objectives of the organisation and endeavour to work within the agreed policy.
10To understand Local Authority procedures in relation to safeguarding children and act upon them as necessary.
11To attend staff meetings and supervision sessions and contribute to the development of the Centre.
12To assist in identifying own training needs, to attend training courses provided or make available by the organisation and to participate in such programmes.
13To co-operate and liaise with other agencies to promote the well being of the nursery users.
14Any other relevant duties as may from time to time be required by the Childcare Services Manager
