Senior Leasing Leader

A senior level position that will have responsibility overseeing the leasing for a retail portfolio in order that the properties and Bentall Kennedy meet or exceed their established targets and objectives. The individual will oversee a leasing team and will have an in depth working knowledge of the portfolio as well as having a strong understanding of the third party and asset management.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the leasing performance of a portfolio of retail projects managed by Bentall Kennedy in order that the portfolio and Company meet or exceed their annual targets
- Responsible for recruiting, training, mentoring and developing the leasing team. Oversee cold calling in markets related to the portfolio (which will involve travel at times)
- Coordinate the team’s leasing effort with property operations, lease administration, asset management and accounting groups within Bentall Kennedy
- Responsible for the creation and ongoing updating of comprehensive merchandising plans and strategies for the properties within the portfolio
- Perform complex leasing activities, requiring the application of retail knowledge and leasing experience
- Actively participate and take ownership of the property budget process as it relates to annual leasing assumptions
- Reinforce Bentall Kennedy’s brand of being “Best in Class” property management and leasing service provider
- Complete understanding and adherence to the Leasing Conflict Avoidance Policies, Environmental Policy, Code of Conduct and other policies and procedures relevant to the position as prescribed from time to time. Ensure that the Company and Leasing Staff comply with and adhere to all applicable provincial laws and legislation as they related to the active leasing and managing of retail properties
- Maintain records and have in depth knowledge of various market information including recent market assets
- Establish and/or maintain strong shopping centre industry presence and profile and foster relationships in both the Landlord and Retail communities
- Liaise with Asset Management Team as it relates to strategy/recommendations, all relevant leasing decisions and detailed financial analysis
- Provide support to the Acquisitions and Asset Management teams with respect to strategic planning, acquisitions and dispositions. Monitor market activity and identify acquisition and/or potential business opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Must have and maintain a Real Estate license in good standing for Ontario / British Columbia, including the mandatory courses and articling courses.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in the field of Commercial Real Estate as a landlord, tenant or broker representative
- An understanding of third party property management and asset management is essential
- Regional enclosed mall leasing experience is a preferred skill set
- Strong initiative and self-managing skills to work independently with minimal direction
- Strong relationship skills, superior oral and written communication and presentation skills; ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships at all levels; ability to exercise confidentiality; displays enthusiasm and has a desire to learn; team player
- Organization/Multi-Task Skills – Ability to allocate one’s time effectively, work under pressure and manage tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities, and adapt to new ideas and constant changes
