Dear friends of motor sports,*

We would like to welcome you on the Erg-Oriental homepage.

The navigation links will guide to all substances and the different rubrics

you can find in the menu.

After the Dakar Rallye we are the first German organizers to use our new

Satellite-locating-system (SLS) with his proofed Iritrack-system.

On our last organization tour we were able to test the system and we are

sure we made a good investment in the security of the participants.

As a matter-of-course the satellite-locating-system (SLS) will also be for rent

for all other rallye organizations.

Safety should always be the most important.

Here are the advantages compared with regular satellite-telephones:

The SLS will be fixed in or outside the vehicles and connected with

plus and minus.

The informations of all participants will be sent to the evaluating car. All tracks

of the vehicles can be controlled, their speed can be checked and they can be

exactly located.

In addition the participants can be contacted to check if help is needed.

Besides an emergency signal can be activated by the participant to inform the

clerk of the race that help is necessary. Within minutes the sender gets

information that his signal was noticed and that the clerk on the course

will organize help as soon as possible.

This year we found a terrific mixture of old and new courses , though more

and more paths in Tunisia are tarred now.

After the liaison from Tunis to the hotel in Chott Mariem near El Kantaoui,

the next day there will be a liaison to the hotel in Tataouine to come to the

“great south“ of Tunisia as fast as possible and to be spoiled in the nice hotel.

Next morning the prologue will be started near Tataouine and the results will be

evaluated immediately to start the first stage in this order.

The day’s finish is El Borma where the next day the dune-stage of 475 km will be

started.

The next two days will also be dune-stages with finish in our camp in Ksar Ghilane.

Next day the obligatory day of rest is planned.

The next stage goes over dunes to the Hotel in Douz.

From Douz the track is leading along the salt lakeChott el Djerid to the next Hotel

in Nefta.

The following day will be a mixture of dunes and paths with seven big dues at the

end and the finish next to the scenery of the movie “Starwars”.

The next day’s stage will be from Nefta on 250 km of paths to the Hotel of Gafsa.

From Gafsa there is a long liaison to the beach near Chott Meriem to start the last

stage on the shore.

Crossing the finish line there will the victory ceremony take place with Champagne,

the winner’s wreath and emblems for the winners.

There will be a photo session and all participants get their emblems.

On the shore at the hotel’s pavilion the party will take place and the next day

we will return to Tunis harbor.

The total of high speed stages is almost 2500 km.

*Unfortunately the satellite-locating-system won’t be available for the coming

Erg Oriental. From 2009 the system will be in use. We hope for your understanding.

Please ignore the text concerning the satellite-locating-system. Thank you.
