Residential Travel Plan (RTP) Accreditation Scheme
Please submit this application by Fri 30th of September 2016
for recognition at this year’s awards ceremony
Guidance on Completing your Application
In assessing the merits of your travel plan we shall be looking for evidence that
· You have a timetabled programme with deadlines for implementation. If your travel plan is for a new development we should expect to see evidence of sustainable travel considerations starting at site location and design stage, and an understanding that travel plans are most effective if residents are supported to adopt sustainable methods of travel from their first day of occupation.
· You have carried out the programme as scheduled.
· Your travel plan is dynamic e.g. how often do you update your travel notice board and/or how often do you circulate e-newsletters to the residents, how often do you promote joining a car share scheme, do new people moving in get a residential travel pack?
· You are measuring the effects of your actions e.g. how many people have joined a car club, how many regularly travel by bus, how many use a new secure cycle store, etc. Do you have a repeat survey planned to measure the progress you have made?
· You feedback your findings to the residents and consult them on further actions to be taken.
· You understand the practical and environmental benefits of promoting sustainable travel and engage the enthusiasm of residents to embrace your aims.
· You demonstrate a “long-term” view, with a plan to ensure the continuity of the RTP as the development ages.
These criteria are designed to be consistent with best practice as recommended by the Department for Transport Guidance published in 2004 and later examples of good practice.
Please complete all Sections.
An indicative marks allocation (up to a maximum total of 160) is included to help you, but adjustments may be made to reflect the special qualities of your situation and your response to it.
If you have a written Travel Plan, Transport Assessment or Travel Strategy document, these should be included in your submission. It is also helpful to attach images, S106 agreements or any other policy documents which have informed/illustrate your travel plan.
