TruStar Energy Celebrates Grand Opening of CNG Fueling Station for City of Denver

(DENVER, CO) Mar. 12, 2014 – TruStar Energy is pleased to announce the grand opening of the City of Denver’s first compressed natural gas fueling station - a large time-fill / fast-fill CNG fueling station that will provide fuel to Denver’s current fleet of seven CNG garbage trucks. The City plans over the next several years to significantly increase the number of CNG vehicles, which will fuel at the station.

“This is a great day for TruStar and the City of Denver,” said TruStar Vice President, Scott Edelbach. “Building a station of this size on time in the middle of a very challenging winter is a testament to our construction team. When people think of Denver, they think of clean air, mountains and blue skies. The completion of the new CNG fueling station is the beginning of the city’s conversion from using diesel to cleaner natural gas. The station has the capacity of fueling 136 vehicles simultaneously – which will support Denver’s vehicle migration plan over the next several years.

“Denver is very proud of this investment in alternative fuel infrastructure,” said Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock. “The new CNG station is an important milestone in achieving our sustainability goals and elevating Denver’s reputation as a smart, livable city.”

According to Denver Public Works Executive Director, Jose Cornejo, TruStar Energy “…was a best-value selection based on a two-stage RFQ/RFP process that factored contractor experience with CNG and design build, proposed equipment, value engineering / value-add options, and price.”

“The new CNG fueling station is a major milestone in Denver’s investment in a cleaner, greener fleet,” said Cornejo. “As this station opens, Denver Public Works is gearing up to convert more of our heavy duty fleet to CNG, which will ultimately improve air quality and save tax payer money.”

The Denver station is Trustar Energy’s third project in Colorado – and continues to grow the White Plains-based company’s infrastructure footprint in the US and Canada.
