Biography Report
March 8, 2010
Biographies are a great way to bring history to life. Therefore, the students will be reading a book about a famous or interesting person. Students must choose a “just right” book (from our school library, classroom library, or a local library) and have it approved by me on or before Friday,March 12th.
The children should take notes on each chapter they read. It’s an easy way to remember the important details and information. I have included an outline that they may want to fill in and use as a guide to make sure they record and include many important facts.
The children will create a poster (either on oak tag or the cardboard posters that fold up) at home filled with photographs and facts about their person. There is a rubric included that they should follow to make sure they include all the necessary parts.
The students will be responsible for writing a report using the information they placed on their poster and from the notes that they took while reading the book. There is a rubric included for the report which should be used as a guide.
The poster and report are due on
Wednesday, April 14th.
On Wednesday, April 14th, the children are to dress up as their person. They can bring their outfit to school and change. They may bring in props and accessories to make their presentation come to life (see presentation rubric).
I will arrange for an opportunity for parents to come and experience our living biography exhibits.
Have fun reading your biography and creating a breath-taking poster and an informative report! I can’t wait to see the projects and the wonderful costumes!
**Please plan your time well. Late projects will lose half a letter grade
for each day that they are late.**
