A HOUSE RESOLUTION
EXPRESSING THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE DEATH OF MR. DON SMITH OF AIKEN COUNTY AND EXTENDING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Don Smith who died on November 15, 2001, at the age of sixtyeight; and
Whereas, Mr. Smith was the beloved son of Sadie Adams Smith and the late Clarence B. Smith, the devoted husband of Jo Nell G. Smith, and the loving father of Keith Smith; and
Whereas, Mr. Smith was a highly respected broadcast engineer with more than thirtyeight years’ experience in the field of electronic maintenance and communications, having retired from the Medical College of Georgia where he worked for more than thirteen years; and
Whereas, Mr. Smith was regarded as a great teacher, friend, and supervisor by all those with whom he worked; and
Whereas, Mr. Smith deeply loved his community, State, and country, making time to share his extraordinary talents with such influential organizations as the Valley Public Service Authority, where he served as a water commissioner, the Bath Masonic Lodge #263 AFM, where he served as a member and past master, and the Korean War Association whose distinguished members held him in the highest regard; and
Whereas, Mr. Smith was particularly proud of his membership at Langley First Baptist Church, where he was also a member of the L.B. Ergle Bible Class; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives want Mr. Smith’s family and many friends to know that they are uppermost in their thoughts and have the members’ deepest sympathy. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Mr. Don Smith of Aiken County and extend their deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. Don Smith.
