Brit Champs Race report
The first Race of the 2015/16 Season took place on Sturday 17th October and again we were back up at HolmePierrepoint in Nottingham for Senior British Championships with EUBC took 8 girls to race in 3 boats.
After an eventful journey up there we were done with the pre paddle and Anna Newton and Ellie Hayes were first to boat for the 2x Time Trial. A tough categorymeant they got them into the E/F semis. An unfortunate start in the Semis and a filed re starts attempt meant they were into the F final. The best race of their day yet and they easily won their final.
Also in the 2x time tiral but racing in the light weight category were IzzyLingard and Susannah Duncan. Putting in a quick time for their first race together they were second in their category. Unfortunately a persistent chest infection that Susannah was unable to shake in the run up to the race meant that they had to pull out. Watch this space for lots more too see from these girls!
Last but not least was the W4- of SeunOlusanya, Alex Flynn, Kristi Stone and Isabel Cole. Again a relaxed and strong time trial put them in a good semi. In the first side by side race of the season they got of to a wobbly start in the semis but still qualified for the A final. As the only U23 crew in the A final they won the U23 pennant. The final was the best the girls had rowed together all season coming in a strong 5th in the Open category.
We would like to thank the support of the Sophie and Amy who came up with us as well as Richard Tinkler our coach. None of these sucsesses would happen with out the fantastic support of the Athletic union and High PeformaceProgramme at Exeter, especially our Strength and Conditioning Coach Wayne Pattinson.
