THEREGULARMEETING OF THE EMERSON RECREATION COMMISSION WAS HELD ON OCTOBER 20, 2016 AT 7:30 P.M. IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM OF THE RECREATION CENTER.
Open Session:
Call to Order
Presiding Officer Dave Rector called the Regular Meeting of the Recreation Commission to orderat 7:30 p.m.
Roll Call: Presiding Officer Dave Rector, SteveCarmosino, AnthonyGismondi,and
Michael Graham.
Excused Absence: Afrim Hoxha, David Cannici, Gerald Falotico and Willie Ortiz
I Recreation Commission Bylaws Change – Status Update
Council liaison Brian Downing will follow up on the Recreation Commission bylaws
change status. The subject will be tabled to a future meeting.
II Board Positions/Openings
A member has a potential candidate that is interested in joining the recreation commission.
Presiding OfficerDave Rector advised the members that there may be another position
open in the future. All candidates will be invited to a recreation commission meeting and
discuss their interest in becoming a member.
III 2016 – 2017 Goals – New Programs
The Recreation Commission discussed a battle of the bands contest. Board of Education
Business Administrator will be contacted regarding auditorium availability at the high
school. The U. S. Sports Institute offers a year-round tennis program for ages 3 to adult,
which is worth looking into.
IV Scheduling Executive Committee Meeting
The Executive Committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 17, 2016.
V Approval of September 8, 2016 Minutes of Meetings
Motion by Michael Graham, Seconded by Anthony Gismondi, that the September 8
Minutes be approved as written.
VI Sport-by-Sport Review
Baseball – Baseball ishaving their registration on line. The Baseball Board wishes to
increase some of the fees within the borough ordinance. Baseball will have a beefsteak
dinner fundraiser.
Softball – Softball had a comedy night fundraiser. Registration will be held on
November 22, November 29 and December 3. Softball registration numbers went up
from previous years.
Soccer – Soccer had their social gathering on October 15. The Soccer Board is thinking
about having Fuzzy Ball games in Villano School gymnasium.
Football - The football board is discussing future fundraising.
Wrestling – There is nothing new to report on wrestling.
Fields – There is nothing new to report on fields.
VII Open Public Comment
There is no one in attendance for a public comment.
Motion by Michael Graham, Seconded by Anthony Gismondi, that the Recreation Commission meeting be adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
