After introductions of those present, the following announcements made:

·  Kevin Murphy stated the JSA had a methane recovery project underway at the sewer plant. The goal is to recover enough methane to run the engines at the sewer plant and provide heat for the digester.

·  Billy Smith stated that the National Groundwater Assn. Meeting will be in Nashville on December 7– 9, 2001. Contact Mark Boggs, 865-632-1894, for registration information.

Brian Biesel, LBL, was welcomed as the newest member of the Steering Committee. Appreciation was expressed to Brian for providing the meeting room and refreshments.

Information shared by committee members is as follows:

·  Bob Wise, Coordinator, 4Rivers Basin Team, gave an update on the Red River Focus Group. He stated that the group has officially formed, and is now operating on its own with some guidance from the 4RBTand the Cumberland River Compact. The group is now the Red River Watershed Assn.

He also stated that the revised status reports have been printed and received and are ready for distribution. $2,250.00 is needed to cover distribution costs; anyone who can assist with this, please talk with Robert Johnson or Bob Wise.

·  Jim Siress, Marshall Co. Health Dept., reported on the Pirates Cove project. At this time all is well, money is in the bank, and the surveying of the collection lines is underway. As soon as the surveying is completed, bids will be accepted this fall.

·  Rob Miller, Basin Coordinator, DOW, provided the main program, an introductory to the weighing and ranking of the HUC II streams in our basin. He primarily explained the definitions and ranking process. The ranking will be made based on the data, which will be provided early next year. The team can make some changes to the weights at that time, if needed. There will be some leeway for the team to provide meaningful input into the ranking process.

·  Clark Dorman, KWA, made a follow-up visit to our basin team to suggest that we do the section of Mayfield Creek/Red Duck Creek confluence as a mini-grant project. This resulted from a suggestion made based on the high fecal readings from recent water watch samplings. The 4RBT indicated they would consider that area but want to consider another section as a backup if Red Duck Creek’s problem is corrected.

There being no further business, meeting adjourned at 12:15 PM
