Route Six

A figure of eight circuit of six miles at an average speed of 4 mph, 1½ hours of cycling.

Attenborough Nature Reserve

On exiting the Attenborough Nature Centre, which is situated at the end of Barton Lane, which runs from Chilwell Retail Park, turn left as if you are going back up Barton Lane.

Turn left onto the ‘Greenway Trail’ just prior to the railway level crossing.

This trail runs down the side of the railway line, which will be on your right.

After 2/3 mile the trail bends left and heads towards the River Trent.

On reaching the Trent, turn left and follow the Trent along, this will be on your right hand side.

After nearly one mile, turn left back towards the Centre from where you started.

Just after the wooden bridge you will be back at the turning circle outside the Centre

In the Nature Reserve Centre, there is a ‘Hide’, who is it for.

From outside the Centre, as if you have just come over the bridge, turn rightonto the trail at this point.

400 yards along this trail, turn right, this will bring you out onto the Lane called ‘The Strand’. (should you miss this trail turning and come out straight on to another lane, continue along the lane until you can turn right into ‘The Strand’).

Continue down The Strand to the end where it turns back into a trail.

Just prior to the end, on your right hand side, there is a sports area, which two Summer sports are played there?

Follow the trail, which will then come out beside the railway, the trail bends right at the point of the pedestrian rail crossing, follow this until you reach the River Trent.

At the Trent, turn right and follow the Trent south, the river will be on your left hand side.

After nearly 2 miles along the river, take the turning right back towards the Nature Centre.
