Manager UK Food House
The Jamboree Organising Team has requested that Contingents support the Jamboree by providing a Country Specific Food House. This will support and enhance the overall programme and provide evening activity which is key to the participant experience.
It has become traditional at previous Jamborees that some countries provide an area for participants and visitors to buy food and drink that reflects the culture of the specific countries, these are known as “Food Houses”. The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is reviewing the food hygiene legislation to enable countries to provide Food Houses at the Jamboree. The UK Food House team may need to undertake USA food hygiene training in order to facilitate the operation of the food house.
The food supplies may be ordered via the Jamboree Organising Team, but there is an option to source food (if required). The Food House team may need to find importers of any UK supplies and work with them to either bring in special supplies, or use items already available in the USA.
The UK Contingent vision for the Food House is:
That the UK will deliver a unique space which would allow participants, Leaders, IST and visitors to embrace UK culture, food and entertainment and where they can express themselves and entertain others, whilst making friendships from across the world.
The Manager of the UK Food House will be responsible for:
1)Developing a theme and concept for the Food House and producing a concept document for approval by the DCLO andthe Events Steering group.
2)Develop a business plan and budget for the Food House to be approved by the Events Steering Group and work within the agreed plan to successfully deliver the project. The Food House will operate a profitable budget and any surplus and assets purchased will be retained by The Scout Association as the underwriters of the project.
3)Working in partnership with DCLO, deliver and review the project.
4)Working with the DCLO to agree staffing proposals for the Food House. It is expected that UK Contingent IST will staff the Food House. Please include in your proposal any specialist/key roles which you may be required to recruit.
