CLASS TITLE:MUSEUM SECURITY OFFICER

This is work performing security functions for a state museum.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

- Patrols galleries and other areas of the museums and grounds to ensure that established security procedures are being practiced, that the desired security posture is being maintained, and that all buildings, art objects and equipment are present, functioning, and properly protected.
- Reports improper security procedures, inadequate protection, and suspicious persons or circumstances to shift supervisor immediately via telephone, radio, or intercom and takes action in such cases until direction from the supervisor and/or reaction forces is received.
- Provides limited information to visitors concerning the museums and their collections.
- Takes charge of the situation in case of fire or other disasters or accidents by following the programs and procedures of the museum regarding fire protection, natural and man-made disasters, and accident and injury prevention.
- Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Experience in law enforcement, security or public contact work can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required high school education.
