First Grade News: We are reading our last story in the second reading book this week. It is a non-fiction story about fish. We will discuss the main idea and details after reading many non-fiction fish stories. The students will write details that they learned about fish on a web and then use the web to write sentences. We will reread the fish sentences and check for correct spelling, capitalization and punctuation. We are working on rereading and editing our written work to make a final good copy. We will hang our colorful fish and fish writing in the hallway. In math, we will assess Chapters 3 and 4 on Wednesday. We will begin Chapter 5 on Thursday which focuses on the relationship between addition and subtraction. Remember to read the Math Parent Letters and keep them handy for a reference for math homework.
