Listand Explanation of Information Required
This sheet contains explanations of terms in the survey and on the form. Feel free to use this sheet to take notes and collect the information you will need to enter into our form to get started on the surveys. The survey home page is
CONTACT INFORMATION

this is used to make sure the demographic questions we ask at the beginning of the survey are accurate for your school.
- What are the grade levels at your school? – Pre-School / Lower / Middle / Upper
this is used to make sure the demographic questions we ask at the beginning of the survey are accurate for your school. These are the terms we use and we do not define the grade levels for each division. We will suppress levels if you don't offer them, but we can’t alter the nomenclature.
SURVEY CHOICES

- Parent - $250 * required
- Trustee - $100
- Alumni - $100
- Faculty - $100
- Student - $100 (for 6th-12th grade students only)
Note that the prices are discounted when surveys are given in conjunction with each other. For each survey event (as defined by deployment date and close date), the cost is $250 for the first survey and $100 for subsequent surveys ($400 and $250 for non SAIS members). You can give surveys at different times if you wish, but you will pay a little more for it.
- Do you want to use census or sample technique?
(note this only applies for the parent survey – for the others, we expect the sample size or the difficulty of collecting responses to warrant a census technique).
Note that if you have a large parent population – above 1,000 you can consider using a sample rather than a census. Most schools will be better served with a census – if you would like to consider sampling instead, please talk to us.
Note that if you choose sample, SAIS will create the sample group for you – very roughly, we sample 20%-40% of families or a minimum of about 300-400 families (the percentage will fluctuate based on your family population).
- How many individual families have children enrolled in your school?
Optional questions – if giving these surveys, please answer
- If giving the alumni survey, how many alumni are there?
- If giving the Trustee survey, how many trustees are there?
- If giving the Faculty survey, how many facultymembers are there?
Note that you can choose to have SAIS administer this to faculty AND staff – just include the total number.
- If giving the Student survey, how many students are there (grades 6-12 only)?
DEPLOYMENT DATES
- Pre-notification date – by school (3-5 days before Deploy Date)
- Deploy Date – by SAIS
We will typically send either mid-morning (around 10:00 AM in your time zone) or early afternoon (around 1:00 PM). We recommend Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday for deployment.
- Reminder 1 date – by SAIS (2-3 days after deployment)
- School Update – by School (4-6 days after deployment)
This is optional and we recommend that this update come out in a regularly scheduled communication – newsletter, weekly folder, etc.
- Reminder 2 date – by SAIS (6-8 days after deployment)
- Close date (10-12 days after deployment)
We typically close surveys in the early evening of the close date.
- Thank you message – by School (1-3 days after close date)
PAYMENT
Once you get to this point, you will be asked for payment.
FORM CONFIRMATION
The confirmation is sent to the email address that you gave in the Contact section. In the confirmation email, you will receive sample notes to send to your stakeholders for the initial notification as well as sample text to use in the optional school update. You will also receive specific information about how to send SAIS email addresses.
