TEACHER OF MUSIC
Responsible to: The Head
Summary of the role:
Required for September 2017 an enthusiastic and well qualifiedTeacher of Music –part-time (0.4)
This post is part-time, but there may be the availability of peripatetic Music lessonsor this post could be considered in conjunction with a role in the Boarding House.
Main Duties and responsibilities:
The post holder will be required to teach Music from Year 3 – 9.
Junior and Senior Instrumental ensembles and Choirs are taught each week as part of our extra programme.
The Teacher of Music is responsible for organising timetables and teaching venues for the peripatetic music staff and for liaising with these staff to ensure they are kept informed of school dates, events and regulations.
The Teacher of Music is responsible for arranging concerts and providing music for services, both in and out of school; the Christmas Carol Service and Commemoration Service, both held in the local Church; music for Junior and Senior Speech Days, held at the end of the Summer Term.
A good level of keyboard skills is required to lead the hymns for school assembly with the assembly band.
Full reports are written for each student at the end of the Autumn and Summer Terms, effort grades are given at half-terms and a summary report at the end of the Spring Term.
Work is to be regularly marked and pupil progress is tracked by each member of staff in conjunction with form tutors.
Provision must be made for those pupils with special educational needs and liaison with the Inclusion co-ordinator is essential.
All members of staff are expected to play a full role in the life of the School outside the classroom.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Other duties and tasks as specified by the Head from time to time
- Be prepared to undertake the role of a form tutor (or deputy form tutor) if required
- Participation as an invigilator
- Be prepared to take cover lessons as directed by the Head
- Attend school assemblies, and from time to time to lead school assemblies in accordance with the Christian ethos of the school
- Notify the Head in good time if an absence is necessary and prepare a cover lesson for the time taken
- Be willing to attend school trips from time to time as required
- Attend in-service training courses
- Adhere to the timetables set down for the year by the Head
Working Hours
- Part-time teachers will be required to be at the school no later than 15minutes before the start of their first lesson and may leave when all duties have been completed
- If teachers wish to work outside of school hours they must seek permission from the Head and ensure that the Caretaker is aware of their presence, and inform the Caretaker when they leave
The Park School has its own salary scale and remuneration will be appropriate to the experience of the chosen candidate. Tuition is provided for the children of academic staff at a significantly reduced rate.
