Contract:Fixed term until end of December 2017, with possibility of extension subject to funding

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

The post holder will coordinate the delivery of a community engagement project aimed at developing, delivering and evaluating four lower speed community engagement initiatives. The role will involve acting as a key contact for community partners and liaising with other stakeholders particularly local authorities.

They will be responsible for identifying communities, carrying out research and engagement on their needs, formulating a plan, co-producing resources and helping gathering support for a strategy to deliver lower speed streets. Part of the role will also involve collating and disseminating best practice including production of a toolkit and co-ordinating training events.

This will be a varied role and an ability to work independently and embrace a diversity of tasks is essential.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working independently at a community level, but in consultation with the Director of Living Streets Scotland, to ensure a professional client relationship with the local partners based on agreed governance and reporting mechanisms to ensure progress
  • Recruit and work with community delivery partners to identify target areas and ensure the smooth roll out of activities in four communities
  • Work at a community level to develop local strategies and co-produce resources that engage the wider community
  • Support activities such street audits and community speed watch pilots
  • Coordinate the development and deliveryof related resources and activities including workshops and research
  • Create and then monitora robust programme of activities with clear responsibilities forLiving Streets, project partners and project audiences
  • Support project audiences (community organisations and local authorities) so they can identify and tackle barriers to lower speed streets
  • Deliver training events for communities and local authority professionals, when required
  • As appropriate attend meetings with partners where there are opportunities to promote the project
  • Monitor and contribute to internal and external evaluation of the project, including gathering baseline data and feedback from partners
  • Draft the content of a toolkit aimed at communities and local authority professionals on how to generate support for low speed streets
  • Contribute to reports for funders and partners and keep project management records up to date
  • Reporting to the Director of Living Streets Scotland manage a small budget for the delivery of project events and resources
  • Identify opportunities to sustain the project or develop activities in related areas and work with the Director of Living Streets Scotland to help secure them

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Be an ambassador for Living Streets as required to external audiences, promoting the Living Streets brand and messages, including at public events, in interaction with stakeholders
  • Be an active contributor to your Departmentto team meetings and away days
  • Adhere to Living Streets policies and procedures, maintaining good liaison across the organisation
  • Ensure the effective delivery ofour Strategic Plan and Objectives
