‘Made to Wear’ Recycle Fashion Contest 2012

Contest Rules

1.  The ‘Made to Wear’ Recycle Fashion Contest provides a platform for creative and talented students to express their appreciation and support for our clean and green environment through the 3Rs ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’. Through their artistic flair, they would create new outfits out of old materials. It also serves to spread the environmentally-friendly message and encourage everyone to safeguard, nurture and cherish our environment.

Eligibility and Entry Procedures

2.  The contest is only opened to all Tertiary students studying in Singapore.

3.  Each team should comprise of at least 2 to a maximum of 5 members.

4.  To take part in this contest, each participant shall complete and submit the registration form attached in Annex 1 to the organisers by 7 October 2012. Participants to email the completed forms to .

5.  The organising committee would forward the full set of contest forms to the contestants after receiving the registration forms within 3 working days. Following which, the participants would have to submit the following items to the organising committee by 14 October 2012:

a.  Completed contest form

b.  Digital photos* of the materials that would be used for the new garment

c.  Digital photos* of the completed garment

* Digital photo resolution to be at least 1600 x 1200 pixels. Maximum of 4 photos each in point b & c above are to be submitted. The photos have to be in full colour, sharp and clear.

Competition

6. Materials that could be used for the contest has to be used items ie to reuse clothing and household materials e.g. curtains, table clothes, seat covers and etc to create a new outfit.

7. No newspaper, plastic bag, plastic bottle, CD and other similar materials that are not suitable for daily wash and wear are allowed.

8.  The new outfit that is to be created for semi-finals can be for daytime wear, evening wear, sportswear and etc ie they can be either formal or causal wear. However, the theme for the outfit for the finals will be made known during the semi-finals on 21 October 2012’.

9.  All created outfits must be accompanied with matching shoes and other accessories (eg. necklace, bangle, earrings, bags, watches, etc).

10. All existing accessories and shoes must be modified.

11. The Semi-Final round will be held on 21 October 2012 at the Woodlands Galaxy Community Club, Multi-Purpose Hall and the Finals will be held at Bukit Panjang Plaza, Garden Plaza (2nd Level) on 18 November 2012.

Judging Criteria

12. Semi-final round

Each team will be judged based on the following criteria.

Overall Presentation / 20%

Six teams from the Semi-Final round will be selected to enter the Finals on 18 November 2012. The teams will be given three and half hours to create a new piece of outfit on the spot during the Finals (note: finalists have to bring their own old garment, accessories and etc on the day of event). The theme for this year’s “Made to Wear” Finals will be made known during the semi-finals on 21 October 2012.

13. Finals

Similarly, each team from the final round will be judged based on the following criteria.

14. The judges shall have the right to select alternative winners to replace any winners who are subsequently disqualified.

15. The decision of the judges is final and no appeals will be accepted or entertained.

Prizes

16. Finals

1st Prize - $600 Cash Vouchers

2nd Prize - $400 Cash Vouchers

3rd Prize - $200 Cash Vouchers

(1st to 3rd Prize will be presented with a trophy each.)

4th to 6th Prize - $100 Cash Vouchers

17. The organising committee reserves the right to substitute or replace the prize with any other prize of similar value without prior notice.

18. Prizes are non-transferable, non-negotiable and non-exchangeable.

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY. By participating in the Contest, you hereby agree to abide by all the Terms and Conditions set out herein.
1. The organisers shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising in connection with the Contest.
2. The team consents to the public disclosure of their team’s name and photographs, as the case may be, for publicity purposes or otherwise participates in the publicity activities of NEA or Woodlands Grassroots Organisations in relation to the Contest for any future publicity effort by NEA, without any payment or compensation thereof.
3. If for any reason any aspect of the Contest is not capable of running as planned, The organisers may in its sole discretion cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Contest.
4. The judges shall have the right to select alternative winners to replace any winners who are subsequently disqualified.
5. The decision of the judges is final and no appeals will be accepted or entertained.
6. Notwithstanding anything in these Terms and Conditions, The organisers reserve the right at any time in its absolute discretion to determine and/or amend, by addition to, subtraction from or variation of, these Terms and Conditions without prior notification, including but not limited to the eligibility terms and criteria, the selection of winners, the timing of any act to be done and all participants to this contest shall be bound by these amendments. All changes will be sent via email..
7. In the event of any inconsistency between these Terms and Conditions and any brochures, marketing or promotional materials relating to the Contest, these Terms and Conditions, and all its subsequent variations, shall prevail.
