PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROCEDURES AND EXPECTATIONS

  1. Mission Statement: The goal of our physical education program is to have maximum participation everyday. This will ensure each student will have the opportunity to acquire a variety of skills that will enable each student to develop lifetime fitness activities and meet state standard requirements.
  1. Grading: This year we will be in class everyday for 45 minutes for an entire quarter.

Grading for P.E. will be as follows:

PARTICIPATION 50% (Affective)

TESTS/QUIZZES/OTHER 40% (Cognitive)

SKILLS/FITNESS (20%) (Psychomotor)

Daily Participation: Each student will begin each grading period with 100 points for participation. Points will be taken away for:

  1. Not dressing out during P.E. - 5 points PE UNIFORMS ARE $15 AND CAN BE PURCHASED FROM YOUR PE TEACHER

(Including but not limited to: wrong shirt, wrong shorts, wrong type of shoes, no shoes, or sandals)

  1. Poor sportsmanship
  2. Not seated for roll call
  3. Not following directions
  4. Tardy
  5. Jewelry during P.E.
  6. Dissent
  7. Refusal to Participate
  8. Others

Choosing to act out in any of the previously stated ways can cost a student anywhere from 1-5 points per day depending upon the degree of the infraction and the persistence of the infraction.

Students whorefuse to dress out can also be given the following consequences:

  1. Written Assignments
  2. Lunch Detention
  3. Phone calls home

III. Notes: We will accept notes from parents excusing a student from P.E. for 2 days.

After 2 days, A DOCTORS NOTE MUST BE GIVEN TO YOUR TEACHER TO

EXCUSE YOU FROM CLASS. If you have a note, you must still dress out for class

and complete a written assignment in order to earn your points for the day.

IV. Locks: Each student will be issued a lock for your locker once we begin P.E. during health students will not be dressing out. You are responsible for

this lock. DO NOT give your combination to anyone. If your lose your lock, it will

cost you $5.00.

V. Injuries: If you are injured during class, immediately tell a PE teacher.

VI.PE Rules:

  1. GYM
  2. Dress out- PE uniform, athletic socks, tennis shoes, NO jewelry.
  3. Display good sportsmanship at all times.
  4. No horseplay. (ie. playing with equipment before/after class, jumping or hanging on the rims, or climbing on the bleachers)
  5. No food, candy or gum allowed in gym.
  6. No one is permitted to leave the gym for any reason without permission from the teacher.
  7. LOCKER ROOM
  8. Lock your lock.
  9. No horseplay! Get in, get dressed, get out.
  10. No glass containers- cologne, perfume, etc.
  11. No students are allowed in the locker room without permission from their PE teacher.
  12. Remember TEAM
  13. Treat yourself and others with respect
  14. Every day counts, be prepared
  15. Always give 100%
  16. Make a difference with a positive attitude

VIII. Disciplinary Procedures:

***CMS PE will follow the classroom discipline cycle for minor incidences.***

  • Reminder 1: Non-verbal warning. The student will be made aware that they need to discontinue the behavior
  • Reminder 2: Verbal warning: The student will receive a verbal reminder to discontinue the behavior.
  • Reminder 3: Consequence: The student will receive lunch detention or a STOP referral and parent contact.
    ***For major offenses the student will be referred to the office.***
