Tiger needed fire to cook his food.

His fire went out. Tiger went to the village to fetch more fire.

The village people were scared.

Tiger went back to the jungle.

He sent the Tiger Child to the village to get some fire.

The Tiger Child played on the way to the village.

Tiger Child could not remember what he had to fetch.

Tiger Child drank some milk, ate some fish and slept on a cushion.

Tiger went to look for Tiger Child.

Tiger found Tiger Child asleep by a warm fire.

Tiger Child had become a CAT!

How Rabbit Stole the Fire

Dear Sky People,

I am very sorry that I stole your fire. In fact it was not at all my fault. Let me explain.

The Peacock wanted to show the Sky People that he was the bird with the most beautiful feathers in the world. He asked me to help him. I carefully made this head-dress to display his most fantastic feathers. Then he asked me to take this wonderful head-dress and show it to the Sky People.

As you know, I came up to see you, wearing the wonderful head-dress. Carried away by my enthusiasm for the amazing feathers of the beautiful peacock, I decided to show you what the head-dress could do. We danced, we stretched and skipped and bowed and hopped. Suddenly the head-dress caught the flames of the fire and the feathers started burning!

I was horrified. I knew Peacock would be absolutely furious if his wonderful feathers were burned. And so I ran. I ran like the wind to get back to Peacock before the feathers were all burned.

But as I was running, Squirrel came and snatched the head-dress from me, and then Crow snatched it from her, and then Raccoon and Turkey and Deer. Well, by the time Peacock got his head-dress back, the feathers were nearly burned away and all my running was for nothing.

Believe me, Sky People, I had no intention to steal your fire. Nothing was further from my mind. It was just an accident.

The Three Billy Goats Gruff

  • Once there were three Billy Goats Gruff.
  • They wanted to eat the grass on the other side of the bridge because it looked greener and tastier.
  • Under the bridge there lived an ugly troll.
  • The smallest billy goat crossed the bridge.
  • His feet went trip trap trip trap over the rickety bridge.
  • The troll said, ‘Who is that trip trapping over my bridge?’
  • The billy goat replied, ‘It is me the smallest Billy Goat Gruff’
  • The troll said, ‘Then I will eat you’.
  • The goat replied, ‘Please don’t eat me, my brother is bigger than me, he is going to cross the bridge next.’
  • The troll allowed the goat to cross.
  • The middle sized billy goat crossed the bridge.
  • His feet went trip trap trip trap over the rickety bridge.
  • The troll said, ‘Who is that trip trapping over my bridge?’
  • The billy goat replied, ‘It is me the middle sized Billy Goat Gruff’
  • The troll said, ‘Then I will eat you’.
  • The goat replied, ‘Please don’t eat me, my brother is bigger than me, he is going to cross the bridge next.’
  • The troll allowed the goat to cross.
  • The biggest billy goat gruff crossed the bridge.
  • His feet went trip trap trip trap over the rickety bridge.
  • The troll said, ‘Who is that trip trapping over my bridge?’
  • The billy goat replied, ‘It is me the biggest Billy Goat Gruff of them all.’
  • The troll said, ‘Then I will eat you’.
  • The biggest billy goat ran at the troll and butted him over the bridge.
  • The troll fell into the water and was never seen again.
  • The billy goats ate and ate the long green grass and lived happily ever after.
