Install_Horizon_on_64-bit_Windows
- Go into Control Panel/User Accounts and turn the "User Account Control" slider all the way down. After the install is complete you may return it to the original position if you desire.
- Restart the PC.
- Download these six files from the ALS website at I recommend you down load these files to afolderyou created to hold these files. You can delete the directory when you complete the install.

- Install the first TWO files, vcredist_x64_2005sp1.exe and vcredist_x64_ATL Update.exe files in the order indicated above.
- If you have Java version greater then version 8 uninstall it. Run the jre-7u80-windows-i586.exe listed above to install version 7 of Java. Use the default options to install Java.
- Extract the SDK16x64b64.zip file. It should automatically extract to a sub folder “SDK16x64b64” within the folder you created. Run “setup.exe” in that folder. Click next on the opening page, select the United States, agree to the terms then click next. Use the default folder. Choose “Custom” then next. Only check the DB-library and SAP ASE ODBG Driver.
Finally click next. Verify that only Open client, DB-Library and SAP ASE ODBC Drivers are listed under Product features. Click Install.
- Configure the Dsedit utility. Go to “Start” -> “All Programs” -> “Sybase” -> “Connectivity” -> “Open Client Directory Service Editor”. There will be a “Select Directory Service”, click on “OK”. In the new window click on “Server Object” then “Add”. Highlight the “Server Name” and type “Horizon”. Next right-click on “Server Address” and then “modify attribute” the “add” and type “66.199.221.50,2025” as a “Network Address” then “OK”. Now to test, right –click on “Server Address” again then “ping server” then “ping”. You should get a pop up that says “Connect Succeeded”.
- You should reboot your computer before installing Horizon.
- Start the Horizon75.exe file you downloaded. On the Components screen be sure to check BOTH “Admin” and “Staff” on the left side, but then UN-check the “Day End” and “Borrower Import” selection on the right. Check "Adhoc reports". Hit Next, then Next again to start the install. When the install completes, UN-check the option to start Horizon immediately, and finish.
- Restart the computer.
- The first time you use the client, you will need to login to the server area on the right and select the horizon database, which in most cases requires just your user name and password. Then, you can login to the client itself. Logging in on the server side needs only to be done once:
- Drop the “Server” box on the right, and choose “Horizon.” When prompted for a login and password after choosing Horizon, use the ones supplied to you by ALS for your library.
b. Drop the “Database” box, and choose “horizon.”
c. The client can now be logged on by entering the same username and password on the left hand side of the window that you’ve always used.
- Finally, extract the Horizon-help-center.zip file. Open the directory created and double-click on setup.exe file. Use the default selections until you get to a list of which documents to install. Select all that apply excluding Administration.
