RULES AND REGULATIONS

PARADE STARTS 1:00PM

Line Up 11:30 AM

This is a Judged Parade

Trophies will be awarded for the following categories

Best Band

Best School Unit /Float

Best Decorated Float

Best Original Group

Best Original Irish Spirit

  1. Units are to line up in the Kingston Plaza at 11:30 AM
  2. Kingston Police Department will close Westbrook Lane at 12:15PM
  3. (Best entrance to the Plaza is via Plaza Road. Former AMES side of Plaza)
  1. One person from each unit should check in at the parade headquarters located in Chic’s Restaurant. (11:30AM-12:15PM) A Parade ribbon will be given to each unit at the registration table to be displayed in the parade.
  1. Parade Marshals are the officials for the parade and their instructions are final. Any unit disregarding official’s instructions will forfeit its participation in the parade.
  1. The parade committee reserves the right to screen all units for objectionable material to the celebration of the feast of St. Patrick and the Irish race. Any objectionable material must be removed before participating in the parade.
  1. Parade Marshals have the final line of March and the list of unit numbers and final lineup instructions. If there is any question concerning the line of March, consult them. The Line of March will move from the Plaza promptly at 12:45PM SHARP. Please be ready!!
  1. Fire Companies: IMPORTANT --No Sirens--. In case of emergency, if a response is necessary, trucks will move FORWARD ONLY on the LEFT SIDE of the Parade until there is an opportunity to make a LEFT OR RIGHT TURN off the parade route. At the direction of the Kingston Police Department, on lower Broadway in the Rondout, trucks must NOT attempt to go back up against the parade. Instead they should proceed to Delaware Avenue. And out of the city.
  1. At the end of the parade, cars, trucks, and floats should not stop until they have passed the Kingston Sewage treatment Plant.
  1. Kingston has an open container law. It is the responsibility of each unit coordinator to see that NO consumption of alcohol takes place while the parade is in progress.
  1. PLEASE DO NOT THROW CANDY OR OTHER GOODIES FROM CARS, FLOATS, OR TRUCKS. Doing so creates a serious safety problem with the potential of a young child being struck by a moving vehicle. Walkers may hand things out at the edge of the parade route. UNITS FAILING TO DO SO WILL FORFEIT PARTICIPATION IN THIS AND NEXT YEARS PARADE.
  1. Units are expected to keep pace with the unit in front of them. Please close up any spaces that develop between units.
  1. The Official reviewing stand is on the right at the foot of Broadway, immediately after making the left turn onto the Strand.
