William Strange
William was born in Linton, Cambridgeshire, UK on 22/6/1817
He arrived with his family on the “Susan” on 25 March 1841 accompanied by William & Jane. He is listed as a Shepherd and her occupation as a Laundress. The log shows that they could not read or write, were Protestants and came from Cambridgeshire
Edward’s birth certificate shows William to be a farmer living in Campbelltown, Parish of St. Peter, County of Cumberland, NSW.
He is believed to have died before 1860 as Mary remarried as a widow. It is known his son Thomas when Gold Mining in Bathurst & Gulgong – it’s possible that William went also and died on the fields where record keeping was notoriously bad.
Mary Brown
Mary is believed to have been born on 29/5/1815 in Linton, Cambridgeshire, UK. Her parents are believed to be James Brown & Susan???. Her entry papers show that her parents were deceased and do not name them.
Mary was remarried to John Sherman in 1860. She gave her status as Widow.
She is believed to have died after1888.

Edward was born on 18/1/1855 in Campbelltown, NSW. Baptized at Anglican Church, Campbelltown, on 1/4/1855.
He married Mary Ann Howe on 13/5/1 876 at Wesleyan Church, Arundel Terrace, Glebe. The witnesses were his brother Samuel and Mary Andrews (Samuel married Mary Andrews in 1878.). His profession was stated as Boot maker. He lived in Chippendale NSW.
He died on 15/3/1912. His address was 369 Cleveland St. Redfern. He died of Mitral Regurgitation & Heart Failure. He was buried in the Anglican Cemetery, Rookwood.
Mary Ann Howe
Mary Ann’s parents were shown on her death certificate as Charles Howe & Mary Ann Pennefeather and that she was born in Sydney. According to details on Vernon’s birth certificate, she was born in Wooloomooloo. There is no record of her birth.
She died Eveliegh St., Darlington (Redfern) on 25/10/1894 aged 36 of cancer of the uterus. She would have been born in about 1858.

There were also 2 unnamed males shown on Edward’s Death Certificate.
It is highly probable that Alina & Lesley are the same person. Mary Ann.'s Death certificate shows only 2 deceased females. Also her certificate does not mention the 2 males shown on Edward's Death Certificate.
Vernon Albert Strange
Vernon was born in Redfern on 7/4/1884 to Edward & Mary Ann Strange (nee Howe). Their Marriage certificate says her family name was Hall, but transcript and other documents say Howe.
On 12/8/1908 he married Olive Keefe who was 6 years younger than him.
He was a boot maker when he married, but had become a Greengrocer when Thelma was born. They lived in 17 Hart St. Redfern.
We have no knowledge of Vernon after 1923.
Olive Keefe
Born 1890/1891 as Holly Keefe.
Olive’s birth has not been registered, nor was Florence. May was registered as May O’K Ryan with Annie shown as an unmarried mother. Olive’s father was John O’Keefe and her mother Annie Ryan. See Ryan Family Files.
In 1935 she married Robert Byrnes and stated she was a widow at that time.
She died on the 4/5/1973 of Congestive Cardiac Failure at Liverpool Hospital NSW
