It also serves to preserve and promote the A&M Spirit, Tradition and Core Values. Lastly, it exists to create leaders of character dedicated to serving the greater good.

Executive Cabinet Values

Integrity, Excellence, Humility, Servant Leadership, Aggie Experience

The Executive Cabinet has been restructured from the previous year. Top staff is now smaller and made up of the Student Body President, SGA Executive Vice President and the Chief of Staff. The Top Staff advises the SBP on all issues regarding SGA, A&M and College Station. The SGA EVP serves as a support to the SBP; they are able to represent, speak and make decisions for the SBP. The Chief of Staff manages cabinet; they are responsible for directing each vice president to execute the vision of the SBP and the passed legislation from the Student Senate. The COS is also responsible for making sure cabinet is meeting it optimal potential and working effectively and efficiently.

The Executive Vice Presidents of Administration, Communication, and Operation are both executive and managerial. They are team leaders and direct their group of VPs to work together to accomplish overall goals. The EVP of Administration is primarily Policy-oriented and works with Academic Affairs, Student Services, Legislative Relations, and University Committees. The Communications EVP helps with communication within cabinet, SGA, A&M, and the community and will work with Public Relations, Marketing and Media and Information Technology Vice Presidents. They bring together three forms of communication to keep SGA and A&M connected. The Operations Executive Vice President oversees both the committees and commissions leading the programming part of SGA.

Academic Affairs, Student Services, Legislative Relations, and University Committees work with the policy that creates positive change on campus. AA, SS, and LR all work with their Senate counterpart to Research, Legislate, and Advocate on behalf of students. Academic Affairs works on a wide variety of issues pertaining to academics. Student Services focuses on dinning, transportation and other services that greatly affect the day to day lives of students. Legislative Relations is responsible for advocating for the student body to the state and national government. University Committees appoints students to various university committees to give student input and direction all around campus.

Communication is a critical component to success in this next session. The position of Public Relations consolidates to previous responsibilities: campus outreach and community relations. PR will focus on communicating to all constituents through speaking engagements and press releases to media outlets such as The Battalion, The Eagle and KBTX. The position of Marketing and Media will advertise for the executive cabinet, SGA as a whole, and committees. We want to better brand SGA and work toward a high reputation on campus where students are informed about our work for them. Marketing can be in the form of signs or flyers, and social media will be utilized by having a more active SGA Facebook and Twitter. The position of Information Technology will improve our website and enhance SGA’s recordkeeping abilities. This will give students a way to find out more information about SGA as well as well as provide information and opinions so that we can better serve them. The goal is also for the website to be an interface for the three branches to communicate and save records.

The previous parts of cabinet deal with policy related issues concerning campus and the community. The Operations component of the cabinet is primarily programming. SGA has 15 committees and 3 commissions. There are Vice Presidents delegated to work with each of these organizations. The Commissions are led by a commissioner but have teams of people to work more on programming than on policy. In the event that a policy issue pertaining to one of the commissions were to arise they are able to advise and help. There are similarities and differences from last year’s cabinet. However, the ambition is to improve based on the experience of last year and the vision for the future.
