POST TITLE:P/T Counsellor/Support Worker
HOURS OF WORK:25hours per week for 1 year
SALARY:£21822pro-rata
RESPONSIBLE TO:Clinical Lead
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
To provide support to female and male survivors of childhood sexual abuse and rape, their partners and adult familymembers ona one-to-one basis and co-facilitate group-work and training.
The post-holder will be sympathetic to the aims and objectives of the Project. They willhave the drive and enthusiasm necessary to aid the Manager in the development of the service.
1.Assess and offer a range ofcounselling and support sessions to clients/and or families on a one-to-one basis.
2.With co-workers facilitate support groups for adult survivors of sexual abuse and or families.
- Participate in regular supervision sessions to assist in personal & professional development.
- Maintain appropriate administrativesystems along withother project staff. To work in line with agreed policies and procedures of Break the Silence. Complete monitoring and evaluation requirements and report to the Manager.
5.Assist in any other reasonable duties as designated by the Manager toensure the smooth running of Break the Silence.
6.Participate in induction training and attend ongoing CPD training as required.
7.Offer one-to-one support sessions at outreach facilities as designated by the
Manager.
8.Some evening work may be required for this post.

Person Specification
Part-time Counselling/Support Worker
Skills:
- Minimum COSCA counselling skills certificate or othersuitable qualification
- Proven skills and experience of working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse
- The ability to contribute to a team on a supportive and constructive basis
- The ability maintain an accessible serviceresponsive to survivors’ needs
- The ability to assist in the development of project work
Experience:
- A good working knowledge of and/or personal experience of the issues for survivors of childhood sexual abuse
- Proven skills and experience of groupwork
- An understanding of and experience of working with community networks and community groups
- Working as part of a team
- Working with female and male clients
