Thank you for expressing an interest in the advertised posts at our school.

Holy Trinity School serves a multi-cultural part of Gravesend. It is situated within walking distance of the town centre. Gravesend is a riverside town with a population of 60,000. The town is within 4 miles of green belt farming land, yet only 8 miles from the M25 and the Dartford River Crossing.

The School was founded in 1865 when it was attached to Holy Trinity Church. It was destroyed by fire in 1961 and moved to temporary accommodation in Milton Barracks. A new building was opened on the former Barracks site in 1977. This was extended in 1992 and a Nursery building added in 1996. Since 2000 our playground has been extended, an ICT suite opened, new staffroom built, six smaller classrooms extended and a new administration suite opened. The School has extensive grounds, which are used as a valuable teaching resource including a new environmental area with a pond and wooded area. We have recently extended our Nursery building and added two new purpose built reception classrooms.

Holy Trinity is a popular oversubscribed school, which has expanded, in recent years. We now have seven pairs of year group classes plus a nursery. Each class has approximately 30 pupils. The school roll at present is 493 including 60 in the Nursery.

The School has approximately 50% of its pupils from ethnic minority groups; the largest group being Punjabi speaking Sikhs. Our pupils have a total of 24 different languages. We have a 0.8 bi-lingual Learning Support Assistant to assist these children in their learning.

The Governing Body employs 20 Learning Support Assistants to support class teachers and their pupils.

The School has a small but active PTA who provide various social events for adults and children as well as raising additional funds for various resources.

In February 2011 the School had its latest OFSTED inspection. This report was very positive and acknowledged good improvement had been made since the previous inspection. All aspects of the school were judged as ‘Good’ or better. In March 2011 we had our inspection as an Anglican School and were graded as ‘Outstanding’.

Our School prides itself on its reputation in providing a caring environment for all its children and staff. Applicants should be in sympathy with the ethos of a Church of England School.
