Fulton County Fair opens gates for 158thcelebration September 4 –10

WAUSEON (Ohio)—For 158 years now, celebrating the end of summer has meant one thing to folks living in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan – attending theFulton County Fair.

Thousands of families, both near and far, have enjoyed the annual event for generations, taking in the Fair’s winning combination of world-class entertainment and old-fashioned family fun, all at a reasonable price.

The 158th Fulton County Fair kicks off on Friday, September 4 and runs through Thursday, September 10 at the “Top of Ohio” Fairgrounds, just north of Wauseon on Rt. 108 at Turnpike Exit 34. Gates open at 8 a.m.

Over the years, the Fulton County Fair has become known as one of the top three Fairs in the state of Ohio. Time-honored traditions like carnival rides, animal shows and crop competitions have remained. Each year also brings with it innovative attractions and current names in musical entertainment. This year’s Fair is staged to offer the same exciting mixture of old and new.

An array of contests, exhibits and competitionsfill each day’s schedule, from the Out of Field & Antique Tractor Pulls in the Grandstand starting Friday morning to Ohio’s Greatest Demolition Derby on Thursday night.

There are plenty of activities for kids, especially on Tuesday’s Junior Fair Day, where all school children are admitted for free until 6 p.m.

As attendees take in the sights, they can fill up on tasty fare from nearly 100 different vendors, sampling everything from homemade donuts, sausage and ribeye sandwiches to funnel cakes, and let’s not forget the milkshakes available in chocolate or vanilla.

Friday, September 4 – Judging Agriculture, including Fruits, Vegetables and Canned Goods. ALSA Open Llama and Alpaca Show in Spangler Arena. Culinary and Floral Judging.Baked Goods Auction on the South Stage and Beef Breeding Judging in the Spangler Arena. Flag Raising Ceremony with the Veterans’ Association in the Grandstand followed by NTPA Sanctioned Tractor and Truck Pulls.

Thursday, September 10 – Closing Day – Jr. Fair Large Animal Sale, Ohio’s Greatest Demolition Derby in the Grandstand at 7:00 pm, Free Concert on the South Stage featuring Shades of Blue, Flag Lowering Ceremony at 10 p.m. and Close of the Fulton County Fair at 11 p.m.

Regular gate admission to the Fulton County Fair is $5 per person and includes free parking. Children 15 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Money-saving season tickets may be purchased for $15 prior to the Fair from 4-H and service clubs, at the Fair office, or at area businesses. Season tickets are available at the gate Friday and Saturday of Fair for $20.

Considered one of the premier county fairs in Ohio, the Fulton County Fair expects to attract more than a quarter-million visitors once again this year to the “Top of Ohio” Fairgrounds, just north of Wauseon on State Route 108 at Turnpike Exit 34.
