Maintenance and Trails Crews
Pacific Rim National Park Reserve
This is an anticipatory position for 4 students to be staffed through this competition, subject to funding
Students are required to be returning to school in the fall 2017 or Jan. 2018 and between the ages of 16 & 30 years as this is funded by Youth Employment Strategy.
Pacific Rim National Park Reserve is seeking self-motivated and outgoing individuals to be part of a team committed to the year-long celebration of Canada 150. The maintenance and trails teams role is to keep assets (trails, buildings, campgrounds, day use areas, etc. clean and operational in order to promote great visitor experiences for our anticipated many visitors to the Pacific Rim.
Student Duties
Working within the PRNPR Assets department under the direction of the asset support technicians, you will play a key role in the delivery of maintenance plans (painting, mowing, cleaning, etc.) and ensuring the park is clean of garbage and debris.
· General mowing and trimming of grass areas
· Garbage collection in park owned bins, within parking areas and highway ditch lines
· Assist park staff with general maintenance duties
· Work collaboratively with a variety of staff (Tech Services, ResCon, Visitor Experience)
We are looking for students that possess:
· Excellent interpersonal abilities
· Organizational skills
· Judgement
Mandatory Conditions of Employment:
Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform
Willingness to work varied hours (evenings, weekends)
Willingness to work outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions
Possession of a valid Class 5 Drivers License
Willingness to operate and maintain power and hand tools
Term: Approx. 16 weeks, May to August, 2017

Approx. Salary range: $12.26 to $ 16.92 per hour (according to student education and experience)
Hours of work: 40 hours per week
Location: Ucluelet/Tofino, BC
