AdvancedVideo Production
Mr. Wilson
Cesar Chavez High School
Course Description:
This is an Advanced TV course. You need to pass Beginning Video with at least a C+ (2.5) and instructor approval. Students can take this course more than once. The student will continue to build on their beginning knowledge and apply advanced techniques. Students are expected to produce quality programs and projects than can be broadcast at school, local television, and the web. This course is designed to prepare students for a career in Television and Broadcast Journalism.
Equipment:
Video projects will include producing commercials, PSA’s, taping school activities, special projects, and newscasts.
Since we have expensive equipment in the classroom, you must treat it with respect. The computers are for school use only and not your personal toy. Please limit your time on the computer to 20 minutes unless you check with the Instructor first.
The camcorders are to be used for school projects only, not personal use. The camcorders must be checked out by the instructor, both during class and after school. You are to Title all your projects and save them in the proper folder on the computer.
Only use the camera in a professional manner. Do not take any inappropriate videos, including fighting, dangerous stunts, bad language or gestures, or people’s body parts. You also need to ask the person’s permission before video taping them and respect their privacy. This contract must be signed below before you can use any class equipment.
Class Participation:
Participation and behavior is very important since there is a limited amount of equipment to share and considerable amount of multitasking taking place. NO yelling, screaming, eating, drinking, or throwing anything or running around in class or the privilege of using the equipment will be taken away. There is freedom in the class to go on campus, do not abuse it or you will lose it. You must check with the instructor first and get a video pass. You are not to interrupt other classes. The school hall pass is limited to the restroom or emergencies only. You are limited to 2 bathroom breaks per week.
At the beginning and end of each class you are to be seated in your assigned desks until I release you. You are not to use any equipment until you check with the instructor. Everything must be put back properly and checked off before you are released from class. There will be equipment sign out sheets for both school time and afterschool. All equipment must be returned in proper working order. If there is a problem you must report it to the instructor, do not leave something for the next student to figure out. If you break the rules, equipment privileges will be taken away for 5 days.
