The Arkansas, Memphis and Mississippi CFA Societies Announce University LineUp in The
Local Level of the Global Investment Research Challenge
Top Arkansas, Mississippi andwest Tennessee Business Schools compete on equity research for a chance to travel to Omaha, Nebraskato compete for the Americas Regional and Global title.
Memphis, TN, December 3, 2010 – The Arkansas, Memphis and MississippiCFA Societies announced today that eight universities will participate in the annual Mid-South Investment Research Challenge as part of the CFA Institute’s GlobalInvestment Research Challenge. The Global IRC is an annual educational initiative designed to promote best and ethical practices in equity research to finance and business students through hands-on mentoring and intensive training in company analysis. This year, more than 2500 students from 500 universities worldwide will participate in local Challenges, leading to the regional and global play-offs.
The following universities will participatein the Mid-South IRC for a chance to compete for the Regional and Global IRC title.

“The Challenge brings universities, students, and investment professionals together in a unique fashion that advances the principles of ethics and professional excellence and the value of a career in the finance industry,” said John Rogers, CFA, CFA Institute president and CEO.
The event consists of the following components:
- Training in Research and Report Writing
- Analysis of a Public Company
- Mentoring by an CFA credentialed Investment Professional
- Assessment of Written Reports
- Presentation of Research to a Panel of Experts
The local Mid-South IRC is scheduled to be held on February 5, 2011 at the Fogelman Executive Conference Center in Memphis, Tennessee. CFA Institute will sponsor each winning team in one of three regional competitions in Omaha, Nebraska. Regional champions vie for the Global title on April 8, 2011 in Omaha, Nebraska, USA.
