State Championships

Ryde-Parramatta GC 12th August 2010

Jarrod Freeman, playing off scratch, retained his title returning a 3 over par 74 at the testing Ryde-Parramatta course.Another of our young members,Sean McCartan,was runner up with 76.In the second division Graham Scrygmeour played to his 18 handicap with a fine round of 89 to win from Mike Simon with a score of 97.The nett trophy went to local member Paul Reynolds who also played to his handicap to record 71 to win from Paul Meyer with a 74.Gusty and damp conditions proved too much for many of the disappointing field of only 23 players (39 last year at Castle Hill).

NALG Bowl and Vase Competition

Langdon Emery leads with 27 points from Bruce Richardson 23,Bernie Moase 20 and Harold Bartlett 18.Grouped on 12 points are Warwick Stanwell,Rex Langthorne,Allan Coles and Alan Daubaras.

Two events remain in the programme to be played at St Michaels and Oatlands.

Christmas Golf and Dinner

Tuesday 30th November at Oatlands Golf Club.An afternoon of golf followed by a convivial dinner with your fellow members and guests.Make a note in your diaries for this popular end of year event.

Annual General Meeting

The AGM followed the round at Ryde-Parramatta.

Vice President Harold Bartlett, Secretary/Treasurer Langdon Emery and general committee members Dawn Dorahy and Neal Loadsman did not seek re-election.

Langdon did however agree to his nomination to replace Harold as VP and John Mesley defied the non existent opposition to replace Langdon as Secretary/Treasurer.Bruce Richardson and Warwick Stanwell filled the vacancies on the general committee.

President Allan Coles reminded us in his report that the purpose of our Association was to provide members with the opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie and competition with fellow lefties on good golf courses,at reasonable cost.With State,National and World Championships opportunities exist for us,regardless of handicap, which do not for the average club member.He encouraged members to "spread the word" as to the benefits of our Association as word of mouth has proven the most effective recruiting method to expand our membership.

We welcome Moe Naji from the Kogarah GC and Ron Woodward from Warringah as new members in the Association.

Our next event is a shotgun start at 9.30 am at St Michaels. Visitors welcome so bring a friend.Entry form is attached and is available on the website.Entries close 10th September.
