Information about Doug Miles

Candidate for CCAQ Board “Ways and Means”

I am the father of Brooke (10) and Brittney (8) Miles. Brooke is a junior group swimmer and Brittney is a stroke group swimmer with CCAQ. Our family joined CCAQ in January of 2007. Since my girls joined the team I have dedicated countless volunteer hours to support the children on our team. By assisting with practice, meet, swim-a-thon, and event set-ups and takedowns on deck stretching, substitute coaching, and mentoring. I have enjoyed every minute of my service to the children. As a youth I swam competitively from age 9 to my sophomore year in high school, and I know what kind of dedication it takes to make our children successful both in and out of the water.

I have been a professional firefighter for 20 years and a Captain for the last 8 years with San Bernardino County Fire Department in Lake Arrowhead, CA.. Additionally, I have been the Vice President of the San Bernardino County Firefighters’ Association for 9 years. As Vice President I have lead our 500 plus members in multiple fund raisers from pancake breakfasts serving over 2,000 people to large scale fund raising missions to assist the families of firefighters who lost their life in the line of duty.

My previous professional and volunteer experience have given me the necessary tools to provide the needed leadership to make the CCAQ Board a continued financial success by my appointment to the position of “Ways and Means”.

One final philosophical perspective of mine in regards to this organization, CCAQ is not about the adults, parents or coaches! This team is all about the children both in swimming and the greater life lessons they will obtain from their involvement in the team.

Thank You

Doug Miles
