Location / The appointee may be based at any of the College’s main campuses, and will be required to be available for work at any of the College sitesor at other external sites as required.
Total hours of work / Hours of work will depend on the project offered and may vary.
Work pattern / Will vary within the following times: Monday to Thursday 8.45 am to 5.00 pm and Friday 8.45 am to 3.30 pm. Hours may vary to suit the requirements of the post from time to time.
Job Purpose
The post holder will support the Head of School Training in the co-ordination and development of trainees and will be responsible for planning, co-ordinating, assessing and implementing trainee projects and/oremployability personal and social skills qualifications, and building a rapport with the external organisation representative if applicable. Example of projects include
- Construction of a small store and toilet, conversion of an industrial unit to form workshops and offices etc.
- Filing, laminating word processing documents
- Manufacture and installation of security grilles
- Shampoo, cut and blow dry clients’ hair,
Main Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop, plan, organise, co-ordinate and implement student projects and /or employability, personal and social skills qualifications in accordance with College and awarding body requirements.
- Supervise trainees/learners whilst undertaking projectsor employability and personal and social development and maintain discipline.
- Assist in the development of technical skills of trainees which will includedemonstrating skills to the trainees
- Liaise with Training Support Officers, Lecturers, external community group/charities/agencies to ensure contractual requirements completed to required standard.
- Provide timely reports and contribute to trainee PTP reviews.
- Implement College procedures regarding performance and conduct standards.
- Ensure the College’s quality, safety, and health standards are incorporated into all activities within responsibility of post-holder.
- Undertake trainee assessment, in line with awarding body requirements, including completion of all administrative activities, e.g. e-registers, timesheets etc.
- Ensure all resources required for projects are procured and available when required.
- Engage with the course team to assist in the achievement of the full training framework, including attendance at course conferences
- Participate in staff development programmes

Essential Assessment Criteria
1.For the Vocational areas of: Joinery, Mechanical Engineering, Motor Vehicle, Electrical, Plumbing, Retail, Chef, Food Service, Brickwork.
Minimum of 3 years’industrialexperience in the vocational area applied for.
2.For the Vocational areas ofJoinery, Mechanical Engineering, Motor Vehicle, Electrical, Plumbing, Retail, Chef, Food Service, Brickwork.
Hold a Level 3 qualification in the vocational area applied for.
3.For the Vocational areas ofJoinery, Mechanical Engineering, Motor Vehicle, Electrical, Plumbing, Retail, Chef, Food Service, Brickwork.
Hold a Level 5 qualification in the vocational area applied forOR be prepared to obtain a Level 5 qualification in the vocational area applied for within 2 years of appointment.
4.GCSE English Language & Maths at grade C or above or equivalent.
5.Hold or be prepared to obtain an assessor qualification.
6.Hold or be prepared to obtain a teaching qualification.
7.A current driving licence and access to a car or have access to a form of transport that will enable the post-holder to fulfil the role in full.
8.Self-motivated with the ability to progress several tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines, including when working under pressure
9.Excellent IT Skills and competent in use of Microsoft Office Products
10.Excellent organisational skills.
11.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
12.Ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable Assessment Criteria
1.Minimum of 3 years’experience in a *relevant vocational area in a role which involved training.
