Boise Curling Club Board Meeting

October 9th

Present: Rachaelle, Glenn, Jared, Craig, Glenda, Vince

Absent: Christine, Josh

1. Approve September Meeting Minutes- tabled

2. Club Storage Unit

Any new pricing leads- Jared to call other facilities

Move freezers from Century Link; Jared to contact IIW to determine cost of electrical installation

to use freezers at IIW

Any other equipment that needs to be moved?

3. Fall League

Member numbers- currently around 50, membership dropping due to ice conditions and lack of

flexibility with ice times, 11 teams playing in the fall

Schedule League vs. Google- Schedule league works for now, no changes needed

15 Minute End- encourage members to increase speed of play, Rachaelle to make

announcement at the beginning of league

Broom-stacking- no current options at IIW, nobody from Chicago Connection is returning calls,

would like to have an option for club members to be more social

4. Instructor Course

No available dates from Ice World, only mid day options which is not feasible for course

Set a date this spring for course next fall, there is enough interest from membership to offer

course, ideally will have course before the start of hockey season

5. Member Relation Committee

Any progress- still need a chair and members

6. T-shirt Design Chosen- now needing to select company to make shirts, Shadows has worked with the

club in the past but some have been dissatisfied, Glenda to provide Rachaelle with another option

7. Learn to Curl

Attendance- 4 in the early session, 7 in the later session, some interest in participants to join fall

league

Facebook Ad- placed day before LTC, helped gain some participants, increased visibility of event

Groupon/Deal saver next time- Craig to determine how much money club made in previous

years by using Groupon/Deal Saver, may help gain interest in winter LTC

8. Fall Meeting- about 15 club members present, Tshirt design voted on, MoPAC report given by Don,

Dedicated Ice Committee report by Rhiannon, Girl Scout troop enjoyed their curling experience

9. Holiday Parade- Nov 19th, application due early November, need members to help build float and

participate in the parade

10. Trunk or Treat- Glenn will purchase candy and represent Boise Curling Club, members encouraged to

participate

11. New Business

Spring League Dates set by November board meeting

Kids Curl Pilot Program- Application submitted on 10/7/16, board members agreed to apply via

email prior to deadline, will hear results in November

League Night Duties- Need to assign set up duties to members to ensure that set-up is efficient,

maximizing playing time, encourage hack set up closest to the stones first

Board Duties

Social Media- Christine?to continuetwitter and facebook posts

League Results- Clipboard to be at each week, skips to sign at the end of the game

notifying winning and losing teams

MRC

Holiday Parade

Website- need someone to keep updated with club bonspiel information, update

pictures, board members

Milestone Awards 5 year, 10 year, etc…- board determined that announcements

regarding membership can be made at the end of the year meeting, board decided to not invest in physical awards
