ABC’s of Culture Project

Project is due January 21/22 on the block day
I. Product- Visual Media (Powerpoint)
a)Introduction (Title, picture, name)
b)Author biography ( This is about you and your family)
- Introduces your culture and why it’s important to you
- Photo or accurate image of you or your family
c)26 items in alphabetical order
- One item per letter of the alphabet
- Picture/ image of each item (You will need 26 pictures)
- Short description of each
- Description of why the item is important or significant to your culture
d)Each item is to be unique to your culture (EX: You may only mention that basketball is part of your culture if your people invented it or it has particular significance, not because lots of people play it, or you like to play it)
e)High- level writing skills- this may be ABC’s, but it’s not for little children
- Make this your own- This is your culture and should reflect who you are
II. Interview
a)Interview a family member about your culture (at least 10 open- ended questions)
- Think opening, guiding, and closing questions
- Type and staple the questions and the answers to be turned in on the project due date
b)The interview can take place in person, over Skype, on the phone, and over e-mail
c)The results (findings) of the interview should be reflected in the product
d)Have family member sign the interviewee form to also be turned in on the day the project is due
III. Presentations
a)Pick three of your favorite slides to present to the class
b)This presentation will at the maximum be 2 minutes long. If you go over, you will lose points on your project
c)You may dress up in clothes worn in your culture
d)You will present your project on the 21/22 of January
