EVENT / Uncharted Waters Revisited 2013, 105thCIF-IFC Conference and Annual General Meeting.
WHEN / September 15-18, 2013
WHERE / Pepsi Centre, Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador

About the CIF/IFC:

The Canadian Institute of Forestry/l'Institut forestier du Canada (CIF-IFC) is the national voice of forest practitioners. Formed in 1908, the Institute represents foresters, forest technologists and technicians, ecologists, biologists, geographers, educators, scientists and many others with a professional interest in forestry. The Institute's mission is to provide national leadership in forestry, promote competence among forestry professionals, and foster public awareness of Canadian and international forestry issues.

About the conference:

The Newfoundland-Labrador CIF/IFC Section organizing committee has extended a heartfelt invitation to forest practitioners and professionals across Canada to visit the fair province of Newfoundland & Labrador this September, and partake in the Institute’s annual general meeting, technical sessions, pre-conference and post conference tours. The spirit of the Canadian Institute of Forestry remains strong in Newfoundland & Labrador and the members here are excited to provide the opportunity to explore the province’s forests, learn from our professionals and sample our legendary hospitality. “Uncharted Waters Revisited” is certainly a fitting theme, given the difficulties that have been experienced in the forest sector in recent years, and perhaps it is time we followed in the footsteps of many great explorers and sought out new opportunities. The conference journey will take visiting delegates from the oldest City in North America, across the wilds of black spruce forests and into the fjords and bays of the West Coast. Here, their intellect will be tested, their spirits lifted, and their stomachs filled, as they sample the local cuisine. For the more adventuresome, the journey will continue up the Northern Peninsula, across the straits of Belle Isle, into the big land of Labrador and along the foothills of the Mealy Mountains into Goose Bay. There will be new ideas to ponder, interesting people to meet, vistas to admire and plenty of smiles to go around. All will come as colleagues and leave as friends.
