School of Design + Construction │Teaching Assistantships

Description and Requirements

In the School of Design and Construction, graduate students on paid teaching assistantships (TAs) aid in course delivery under the supervision of the instructor for a course, or provide assistance in designated areas of academic support (i.e. Fabrication Labs). Third or fourth-year undergraduate students can gain instructional support experience in exchange for academic credit (1-3 credits, ARCH 499) as part of a teaching practicum.

Paid positions are typically 20 hours/week or 10 hours/week with a monthly stipend and tuition waiver (either full or half, depending on the amount and type of award), or time-slip (hourly). Time-slip (hourly) positions do not include tuition assistance. Position types are determined by the nature of the assignment and the hours per week of work. All TA positions are awarded competitively, and on a limited basis. Students awarded a TA position must:

  • Maintain a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA.
  • Enroll full-time during the semester(s) they are on appointment.
  • Re-apply each semester they wish to continue on appointment.
