KRHS Band Boosters General Meeting Minutes
December 1, 2016, 7:00 p.m.
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Kathy Fine.
Members Present: Robin Byus, Melissa Odom, Mindi O’Connor, Kathy Fine, Jacquelin Pinilla, Liz Deavers, Lori May, Rich and Diane Searles, Robin Connick, Jennifer Schumacher, Patti Kim
Secretary’s Report: November minutes are approved.
Treasurer’s Report: November report is approved.
Fundraising Report
•Moe’s Spirit Night on December 15th, 5-8 pm. PLEASE spread the word to your family, friends and neighbors. Proceeds from our 1st night was received and deposited. The restaurant is allowing us to hold 3 Spirit Night fundraisers this year. For our 1st event, Moe’s will give us 40% of their sale, 20% for the 2nd and 3rd nights. Sarah McFarland is working with several other restaurants for future Spirit Night fundraising opportunities.
•19 pillows left - we will sell them at the Winter Concert 12/14/16, along with Christmas ornaments, and baked good.
•Wreaths Across America Wrap-Up. We sponsored 112 wreaths this year!! Thank you MB families and friends who gave generously this year — MB profited $560. Wreath laying ceremony will be on 12/17/16, 12:00 noon at Culpepper National Cemetery. Detailed information will be sent to MB families soon.
•Christmas Ornaments Update. $10 each, $5 profit/per for band. Big Dog Pots will make them for us again. This supplier will make 75 ornaments of different art work in preparation for Winter Concert. Pre-paid order will be delivered after xmas?
•7th Annual Golf Tournament - 4/21/17. Kick-Off meeting on Wed., January 11, 2017 at 7 pm at the Searles’. Rich shared that MB made over $2,000 last year. We need to secure as many sponsors as possible before prom volunteers begin asking community businesses for donations. We also need as many players as possible. On the backside of the Winter Concert program, Ms Deavers will mention upcoming MB events along with the date for the Golf Tournament.
•Swing Dance - 4/1/17. The first kick-off meeting date will be announced soon.
President’s Report
•Yonkeyfest - great event! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped organize it and to the volunteers who helped out that day. Mr Yonkey was visibly moved!
•Band Pictures on Thursday, December 15th with Victor O’Neill Studios, right after school. Group and Individual photos will be taken. Detailed information will go out to parents soon.
•Concert Uniforms have been fitted. Should go home this week after cleaning fee are collected.
Band Director’s Report
•Jazz Band Performance in Williamsburg Update. Jacqueline shared that it was a successful event — students performed well and had face-time with Dr. Jeck and other school board members. All Virginia School Board and Superintendents were in attendance at this conference.
•Christmas Parade preparations are in full swing. Parade is tomorrow night at 6:00 pm. Remind will be sent out. Students need to bring 2 AA batteries, marching shoes, and snack. Santa hat will be provided for them. This year, MB is the 4th in line of paraders so we expect to finish quick this year. Bus will be parked at Warrenton MS.
•Status of Indoor Program. Ms Deavers will contact Mr. Paul Fry for administrative approval.
•Uniforms - there are issues with uniform construction so will need to send them back. After MB pictures are taken, the uniforms will need to be assessed for shipping out. We need parents to help on 12/21st as school will be closed on 12/22nd.
•Winter Concert - 12/14/16. We need parents to help with bringing baked good and manning the table.
•District Band Auditions - 12/10/16 at Rappahanock HS. Parents are responsible to drive their children to and from this event. Registration starts early.
•Tri-County Band - 1/20 - 1/21/17 at FHS
•All-District Band - 2/3 - 2/4/17 at Millbrook HS in Winchester
•USC Honor Band - 2/9 - 2/12/17.
•Pre-Assessment Concert - TBA
•All-State Band/Orchestra Auditions - 2/25/17 at JMU
•Assessment Concert - 3/4/17 at Skyline in Front Royal
Monthly Band Booster Mtgs. are held the 1st Thursday at 7:00 pm in the band room.
