May 5, 2014 at White RiverTown Hall

Roll Call: Jennifer Nortunen, Gina Pearce, Levi Illick, Elissa Riemer, Amy Mundt, Doug Liphart, Sally Mika.

No Secretary or Treasurer Report.

Old Business:

There were 16 entries (all awarded!) at the “Cheeze Pleeze” Contest on April 25, and more than 30 people attended. A movie was shown and Levi involved youth in games.

The proposed Matt MacKenzie Fair Award was discussed. Gina will call Matt to firm up details of how this Award will be given and then send out an e-mail to everyone.

New Business:

Senior Scholarship Committee Update: Ian Liphart was recommended to receive a $500 scholarship. Elissa made a motion, seconded by Gina, motion passed. Jennifer will ask Pam Ekholm if she will present the award at Washburn High School Awards night; Doug will inform Ian Meeker.

WI 4-H and Youth Conference: $100 each for financial assistance was granted to two

4-H members that registered to go to conference.

Remaining funds from Crossroads ($300) could be put back into treasury or sent to RuskCounty to help with their expense. Motion made be Gina, seconded by Elissa to send money to RuskCounty. Motion passed.

4-H summer camp is July 10-13. Cost is less at the new camp, by about 15%, but until going through camp this year, exact costs are indefinite. Camp is coordinated with BayfieldCounty.

Future of 4-H Committee asked to proceed with record changes so that information can get out to members as to how they can develop their annual record, previously Record Book.Changes were reviewed. Gina made a motion for the committee to proceed, Sally seconded, motion carried.

Annie will be retiring at the beginning of July! Appreciation expressions were discussed. Gina made a motion to proceed, Amy seconded, motion carried. Sally will follow through.

Levi’s internship ended! We really appreciate all his work and the great asset he’s been to 4-H!!! We hope to continue seeing him work in the community with our youth!

All County Leader Training will be held in Ashland at the Extension office on June 2 at 6:30 for an hour. The PLO asked Doug to have the training topic be on effective communication.

Gina volunteered to continue to be on the Fair Committee; Elissa volunteered to be on the Dairy Bar Committee. An e-mail will be sent out for volunteers for these committees.
