November 15 – Everything is ready at EIMA for the national award ceremony of Communities in Flower 2014, an event which attracts thousands of participants arriving from around Italy in more than 140 city delegations belonging to the principal Italian circuit which brings together the flowered towns and cities throughout the peninsula.

The event is promoted by the Italian Association of Flower Nurseries, ASPROFLOR, in the EIMA setting, with the collaboration of FederUnacoma.

A fine opening for the appointment set for tomorrow was a conference held this morning in the Services Hall on the theme Flowers for Welcome: Secrets for Success and the many relatures present. After greetings extended by ASPROFLOR President Renzo Marconi, Mauro Paradisi, responsible for greenery for the town of Avigliana and an international judge for the Entente Florale competition took the rostrum followed by statements delivered by Maurizio Casale from Phytotrend, Alberto Peyron, Purpurea, Aldo Stoboli, Planta s.s. agr., Alessandro Guglielmi Energy Green) and Luca Fantini. At present the competition Miss Communities in Flower is underway and at 2:00 pm the queen of Communities in Flower until the 2015 edition will be crowned.

The award ceremony tomorrow will begin at 10:00 am in the same Services Hall. As for every four years, the municipalities taking part are divided into four categories, villages, small towns, big cities and tourism communities.

Then of great importance is the delivery of the now renown road map of the Communities in Flower with a yellow background on which appears a variable number of red flowers, from one to four according to the degree of flowering determined by the evaluation commission.

The Garden of Italy in Flower set up outside on an area of 200 m² by ASPROFLOR, will welcome all the participants arriving. Association President Marconi declared, “Typical floriculture has an important value for welcoming and the quality culture of Made in Italy. In these years of contact and comparisons made between community administrations we believe that we have given a significant contribution to the cultivation of flowers and the short production chain selected by the communities taking direct part in the circuit of floral nurseries operating on the territory. In substance, there have been efforts to expand the horizons of the sector and create, with Communities in Flower, an instrument for territorial marketing. This translates each year into the production of a guide which, with 120,000 copies distributed, provides itineraries of greenery and flowers in Italy as a valid aid for anyone who wants to get into floral tourism.

To all this is added the participation of Communities in Flower, the single Italian partner, in the world International Challenge and European Entente Florale competitions entered each year by the winners of the Communities in Flower event so the wait is on for rending official the names of the candidates to be reported tomorrow during the EIMA award ceremony.
