Job title:Disability Advice Team Leader

Department:Student Services

Location: Claverton Campus

Purpose of the job:

Ensure disabled students have the opportunity to access and benefit from their academic and broader student experience through the provision of appropriate information, advice and support to both individual disabled students, prospective students and the staff working with them.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Operational management ofthe Student Disability Advice team to ensure a consistent, coherent and multi agency approach to all Advice based casework, including complex cases and students at risk.
  1. Manage the ongoing advice requirements of a large and complex caseload of disabled students, utilising and developing electronic case file and information management.
  1. Provide initial identification and screening of students and make appropriate referrals.
  1. Monitor and report on trends within the University and externally, andcontribute to initiatives that ensure disabled students have appropriate mainstream support throughout their time at University.
  1. Undertake training and development of staff as appropriateand ensure excellent communication is established and maintained with other support services, academic departments and outside agencies.
  1. Ensure disability related bids for funds are accurate and recorded appropriately. Ensure Disabled Student Allowance related activities are coherent and accurate.
  1. Manage Service Level Agreements as they relate to external diagnostic assessments.
  1. You will from time to time be required to undertake other duties of a similar nature as reasonably required by your line manager,including deputising for the DisabilityManager.
