2-6 Memory

JE2 doesn’t support on board memory, but have two SO-DIMM slots.

These two 200 pins DDR SO-DIMM slots .

2-7 BIOS ROM

One 32 pins PLCC package FLASH ROM PMC39F040 is used for system

and NS87570. System BIOS and KBC BIOS shared same flash memory. The

ownership of flash memory is arbitrated by 570 internal hardware, any access to

flash memory control by 570 . If you intend to update the BIOS version, you may

use BIOS upgrade utility to reprogram it.

2-8 PCMCIA/1394

JE2 use TI-PCI7420A CardBus/1394 Combo chip.

The CardBus in PCI7420A supports both 16 bit and CardBus cards powered at 5V or

3.3V,as required.

The 1394 in PCI7420A support one cable port at 100M/200M/400Mb/sec

2-9 LAN

JE2 use Realtek RTL8100BL as Ethernet LAN controller, support 10/100M b/s

Operation and wake-on-lan function.

2-10 USB

JE2 use NEC UPD720101 as USB 2.0 controller , support 1.5/12/480 Mb/s

2-11 Power management and keyboard controller

The PC87570 is a highly integrated embedded RISC-based controller

optimized for power management, keyboard and mouse and system control.

The PC87570 incorporates National’s Compact RISC CR16A core, a high

Performance 16-bit RISC processor core, a BUS interface unit that directly

interfaces with memory and I/O devices, on-chip memory and system

support functions.

2-12 Modem

JE2 use the MDC modem module, the modem is AC-link design using South

Bridge build in AC 97 digital controller

2-13 Wireless LAN

JE2 use Ambit wireless LAN module.
