Amaroo Neighbourhood Centre - Placement Information
Amaroo Neighbourhood Centre is accepting applications for two term clinical placements commencing in August 2015.
Please note that students must not contact the agency directly with placement enquiries. Contact your placement coordinator if you have questions.
This placement requires students to work in conjunction with other staff members across differnet Art Therapy groups. Opportuntities for one to one counselling may become available as you develop your skills within the placement.
The following requirements are essential in all applicants. Failure to demonstrate high levels of each attribute will result in the placement being cancelled:
· Strong attention to detail – students must be aware of safety practices such as locking doors behind them. This is for the safety of students/staff and clients.
· Professionalism and clear adherence to boundaries - students are given clear instructions by staff as to what their role is with clients. This is purely the role of counsellor and as such students must not advocate on behalf of the client for referrals etc.
· Amaroo Neighbourhood Centre is a smoke free zone – students must observe this while on placement and take care not to smell of smoke when working with clients.
· Ability to work independently – Students are expected to be able to work independently of their supervisor while following instructions precisely.
· Punctuality – clients are scheduled with reference to available staff and rooms. Late arrivals by students are disruptive to this schedule.
To be eligible for this placement students must commit to the following:
· Commence placement in early to mid August 2015 through until May 2016
· Attend for the agreed two days per week for the duration of your placement as agreed upon with your supervsisor.
